Minutes of the 2009 Annual General Meeting.

6th March 2009 Mount Batten Lounge R.B.L. Margate. S/M. H.Allen in the Chair

34 Members present. 6 apologies.

Chairman’s Welcome
The Chairman S/M Harry Allen welcomed all to the AGM.

Opening.
The meeting opened at 20:00 with a silent tribute for those S/M’s that had crossed the bar.
In the past 12 months were S/M Bill Empson & S/M Kay Perfect.

Minutes.
The minutes of the 2008 AGM meeting were read: These were Proposed by S/M Berni Taft and seconded by S/M Sid Jones.

Matters arising
There were no matters arising and the minutes were signed as a true copy.

Treasurer’s Report.
The 2008 financial statement was given by S/M Francis Empson Income over expenditure was £18 76 giving a year-end balance of £1219 07. The treasurer stated that our branch raffles were our main source of income o the report was accepted and proposed by S/M Geoff Humphrey and seconded by S/M Denis Whitehead.

The secretary then read a report on a break down of the years events; highlights were the trip to Chatham Veterans Day, with the evening spent at the Veterans club in Gillingham, The Trafalgar dinner held at the Swan Westgate, and the Trafalgar Day parade, standards joining us from as far as Woking, and Worchester. Our support to T/S Jamaica continues and HMS. Jamaica association paid for the unit’s new standard.
The report was well received and in reply the chairman stated that he would like to thank the social secretary Bernie Taft for his work in organising events and dinners, also the secretary for his work, the committee and auditors and all members for their support.
